A/C Not Working as It Should? Symptoms It May Be Saying Goodbye

Is your A/C not working the way it should? How do you know when your air conditioning inside your home needs to be replaced?  Air conditioners don’t live forever and the EPA actually recommends that you replace your air conditioner with a more energy efficient Energy Star rated unit every ten years. But if you aren’t in the habit of replacing air conditioners until they aren’t working properly, the following are some good indicators.

Frequent, Expensive Repairs

The best indicator that you need a new air conditioner is when your A/C needs frequent and/or expensive repairs. If you’re constantly having problems with the A/C not working, it’s time to consider a new unit.  When your air conditioner starts costing big bucks, a new A/C will work better and save you money in the long run rather than limping along with the old one.

Hot Spots in Your House

If there are rooms that won’t stay cool no matter how low you set the thermostat, it’s likely the cause is a malfunctioning air conditioner.  Your air conditioner is working hard but it just can’t keep the entire house cool any longer and you need to replace it.

House Not Staying Cool

If your air conditioner isn’t working like it used to, or if it has never kept your home cool, it’s time to replace it.  A new unit designed for your square footage will keep your home cooler than the old one.

Your Energy Bills Are High

If your A/C is causing your energy bills to skyrocket, chances are you will save money with a more energy efficient new A/C.  Current Energy Star systems are much more efficient than those installed ten years ago.
